“It is important to maintain your curiosity.”
—George Yabu

One of Canada’s greatest design teams has become an international phenomenon with their thought-provoking and intelligently textured interiors for hotels, restaurants, and retail stores.

Yabu Pushelberg, comprised of Glenn Pushelberg and George Yabu, was established as a firm in 1980 after the two young designers met at Ryerson University in 1972. Since that fateful incident, they have expressed their creativity on such renowned properties as Park Hyatt New York, Four Seasons Hotel Toyko, Viceroy Maldives, London Edition Hotel, and hundreds more.

Not only do their rich interiors portray a subtle elegance and refinement, the design within each space seems somewhat mysterious – as though there is a story to be discovered if one stays long enough. Ultimately, their interiors prompt a feeling, leaving an emotional response with all those who come in contact with the space.

We’ve curated a few of our favourite designs by Yabu Pushelberg.

“The most primitive form of architecture that most impresses us is the common barn. We like it for its simplicity of form, honesty, clarity, functionality, purposefulness and timelessness. There is nothing wasted and no excess in design or construction.” – Yabu Pushelberg
