High urban design has a new home.
Where is Light House?
Light House is located in the southern part of the Port Royal community in the city of New Westminster. This is a quintessential West Coast community on the Fraser River between Annacis Island and Downtown New West. The neighbourhood itself is called Queensborough and it has access to the waterfront, spectacular views and ample parks and walking trails, which promote an active, social lifestyle year-round.
Why New Westminster?
New Westminster offers all the amenities of an urban centre, set in a stunning waterfront location. The downtown core is fast becoming a destination for high-end dining and the city is creating new theater spaces to support the performing arts. And, all of this is within 40 minutes of Downtown Vancouver—making it an ideal place for individuals and families in all stages of life.
What is the Neighbourhood like?
Queensborough in Port Royal is at once tranquil and connected. This is a thriving master-planned community 20 years in the making—with convenient amenities and diverse housing types that accomodate all stages of life. The cornerstone of the neighbourhood is a stunning 6.5 acre park—just steps from your home at Light House. Port Royal Park is a picturesque green space with a picnic shelter, trellised plaza, playground, fountain and dock. The 1.7km Riverfront Walk connects with the area’s network of foot and bike paths, a sand beach and a lookout onto Poplar Island. Nearby, the Port Royal Community Garden offers public plots for residents to grow fruits, vegetables and herbs—a gathering space for neighbours to cultivate connections.
How do I get downtown?
With the new Q2Q Ferry, Port Royal is more connected than ever. This rapid transit along the river takes you from the Port Royal Public Dock in Queensborough to the New Westminster Quay in just five minutes. Public transit from the Quay connects to Downtown Vancouver in under 40 minutes, and the YVR airport in under 30.
What Inspired the Light House Design?
Drawing on the rich history of modernism and infused with the best of elements of the West Coast location, Light House brings urban design into a new context. Historically, modernist architectural forms have been reserved for cities, but we see the potential for a new proposition: a striking, elevated building in a tranquil waterfront setting.
A story of light and form.
